Travel on Maui is simple: the two resort corridors are base zone, Upcountry carries a published line from $75, and the North Shore is quoted at inquiry with the reason attached. Hāna we mention but do not promise.
The zones
- Base zone — Wailea, Mākena, Kīhei, Kāʻanapali, Nāpili–Honokōwai–Kahana, Kapalua: no travel line
- Upcountry — Kula, Makawao: travel from $75, on its own line
- Quoted at inquiry — Pāʻia, Haʻikū: the quote names the number and the reason
- Mention-only — Hāna: two-plus hours each way; quoted reluctantly or declined honestly
Why zones exist
A private chef carries a cold chain and a schedule. The drive from the South Maui base to Haʻikū is an hour each way — that time and temperature discipline is a real cost, and we would rather publish it than bury it in the food price.
How travel appears in the quote
As its own line, per event or per day, at the published figure for your zone. If your address sits near a boundary, the quote tells you which side of it you are on — and why.
Questions, answered
No — the entire West Maui resort corridor from Kāʻanapali to Kapalua is base zone, as is Wailea–Mākena–Kīhei.
Because the honest number depends on the event — a two-person dinner and a 40-guest retreat provision differently. The written quote names the real figure rather than a padded average.
